Sandbag Suitcase Switch (alternating) Instructions

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and hold a sandbag in your right hand.
  2. Engage your core, keep your back straight, and extend your right arm straight out in front of you.
  3. While maintaining a stable torso, slowly lift your left foot off the ground and extend your left leg straight out to the side.
  4. Lower your left leg back down and simultaneously switch the sandbag to your left hand.
  5. Repeat the exercise by extending your right leg straight out to the side while holding the sandbag in your left hand.

Sandbag Suitcase Switch (alternating) Tips

  1. Start with a sandbag that challenges you, but allows you to maintain proper form throughout the exercise.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding the sandbag in one hand, close to your body.
  3. Engage your core and keep your back straight as you lower into a squat, making sure your knees don’t go past your toes.
  4. As you come up from the squat, drive through your heels and squeeze your glutes to activate your quads and glutes.
  5. Switch the sandbag to the other hand at the top of the movement, maintaining control and stability.
  6. Repeat the squat on the opposite side, focusing on keeping your form consistent and engaging your quads and glutes.
  7. Perform 8-12 reps on each side, gradually increasing the weight of the sandbag as you become more comfortable and confident in your form.
